Focus on the photos

Hey y’all! Ashley here, back with a super simple mini album process where I’m focusing more on the photos!

I love mini albums—I’ve always loved them. I’ve also been intimidated about stepping outside of the comfort of scrapping 12×12 pages. I love that you can choose several photos for one spread and I also love that you can add simple embellishments so that your pictures are the main event.

Although mini albums can be intimidating, the hipkitclub may2016 main kit, project life kit, and embellishment add-on kit make it crazy easy to choose your papers, cards, and embellishments since everything goes so perfectly together.

For this spread, I chose to use a pocket page protector made up of (4) 3×4 pockets and a page protector that was simply 6×8. I love to mix it up because it helps to break up some of the repetitiveness in the scrapbooking world!

Of course I had to use paper, washi, and bow clips from the sheblooms collection by Illustrated Faith. I also used a few HKC Exclusive ephemera pieces from the Meadowbrook collection. And y’all know I can’t forget those wood veneer by Jillibean Soup. I just love how simple this turned out and it took a whole 15 minutes to complete 😉

Cards and Color!

Hey Y’all!

Ashley here, sharing 2 projects that I created using the May 2016 Main Kit and add-ons!

I began with Week 1 (cont.) of my Project Life album! I used a 9×12 and 6×12 page protector for the completion of this week. Next up was the placement of my cards that came in the Project Life Kit! I just love the color on these cards….What if we could walk outside and see these colors in our trees, plants–you name it. I live in Texas, where the weather is crazy and so this will never happen. Moving on.

I layered up my photos along with exclusive patterned paper from the Main Kit and the Paper Kit. Then, began to embellish.

I used tons of embellishments from HKC Exclusive puffy sticker and ephemera, to Jillibean Soup wood veneer. I added in some Illustrated Faith chipboard stickers from the “She Blooms” collection.

This is one of my favorite project life spreads to-date! The colors are amazing and the cards make it so easy to create a quick spread.

My second project was a 12×12 layout using the Main Kit along with the embellishment kit, project life kit, and the color kit.

I began by added some simple sprinkles of the Shimmerz Jeni B Bleu (color kit) to that HKC Exclusive background paper.

I then layered up my photo, added a cut file designed by Ashley Horton, placed my title underneath the photo and then my favorite part—began to embellish!

Can I just say one more time that I LOVE those puffy stickers that are HKC exclusive to the Main kit! They are one of my favorite things. EVER.

Puppy Love!

Hey Y’all! Ashley here, back with a layout using the gorgeous May2016‬ hipkits and documenting a photo of our sweet pup Annabelle. Since this week is all about furry friends, I decided to make sure to pull out an oldie, but goodie, photo of our “first-born.”

I was seriously so overwhelmed with excitement when starting to create with these kits because everything is so pretty! I love the navy with the pops of colors in all of the kits. For this layout, I started by layering my photo with a few pieces of the HCK Exclusive papers from the Main Kit and then I cut a few strips from more of those papers to create a vertical design. I also used one of the papers from the She blooms collection by  Illustrated Faith. I couldn’t even handle how amazingly these papers worked together.

I embellished using some of the HKC Exclusive ephemera and puffy stickers. I also used wood veneer from the Healthy Hello Soup collection by Jillibean Soup–these came in our Main Kit.

Lastly, I added Shimmerz (Jeni B Bleu) splatters from the May 2016 Color Kit.

For my second project, I’m sharing a mini album spread using the PL Kit, the Main kit, and the Embellishment add-on.

For this process, I started by choosing my photos and matching them up with the cards from the PL Kit along with few pieces of the She Blooms collection by Illustrated Faith and the Meadowbrook HKC Exlcusive pieces that came in both the Embellishment add-on and the Main kit.

I embellished using some ephemera and puffy stickers (HKC Exlclusive), along with the chipboard stickers and the bow paper clips by Illustrated Faith *She Blooms*. I also used wood veneer from the Healthy Hello Soup collection and Life Word Fetti by Jillibean Soup. I hope y’all love this simple process and make sure to check out my video!

Sketchy-fun and documenting life

Hey Everyone!

Ashley here, back with two of my final projects from the April 2016 kits that I hope you’ll love as much as I loved creating them.

The first project I have is a layout, using this amazing sketch by Ashley Horton.

I love me some triangles, but I often have a difficult time scrapbooking more than one photo, so this was a fun challenge for me!

Y’all!!! I have created so many projects with these kits. For this layout, I used the main kit, embellishment kit, paper kit, and PL kit. I also used my DIY Embellishments that I created for my challenge on NSD—check out my vid, if you haven’t already seen it!

I used a white background, which is nothing unusual for me. I cut various sizes of triangles and started to adhere them to my page, then stitched some of them using my sewing machine. I added my photos on pop-dots, and started to embellish. The sketch shows that the title is overlapping the triangles, but since I wanted to use some more of those amazing Pinkfresh Studio acetate pieces from the main kit. I used some of the Pretty Little Studio (Baby Jack) and Shimelle Laine (Starshine) alphas from the PL Kit, and some of the Amy Tangerine (Better Together) washi from the main kit.

Hope y’all love this one and don’t forget to check out the entire process on YouTube!

For my second project, I created my VERY FIRST 9X12 spread for 2016!!!!! YAY!!! I’m getting caught up. Slowly, but surely.

I just love how simple this spread was, and it took no time at all.

I used the HKC exclusive cards by Kim Watson that came in the April 2016 PL kit as well as various elements from the main kit, paper kit, and embellishment kit.

I would have to say that my favorite parts must be the simple touches that the Amy Tangerine (Better Together) washi adds, as well as the DIY embellishments that I created for NSD.

I’ll be back soon, using the May 2016 kits—which I am SUPER EXCITED about!!!!

Oh, I almost forgot. I obviously have a video for this spread. Y’all know I love me some YouTube.

Celebrating Moms!

Hey y’all! Ashley here, sharing a layout with you that honors Mothers of all kinds! I really wanted to focus on not only natural mothers, but also mothers who raise, nurture, and care for their children. As a therapist for teenagers, I really appreciate all parents and their dedication to their children, but there is something extra special about foster moms, adoptive moms, grandmas as moms, and dads who step in as the mother role.

I began by using a white background and I already knew that I wanted to use those beautiful Amy Tangerine Better Together rub-ons from the April 2016 Main Kit. I created my own background using one entire sheet of the rub-ons. I then layered my photo, which I often do. I added those amazing acetate phrases (Life Noted) by Pinkfresh Studio as a vertical statement and then lightly embellished pieces from the embellishment kit, paper kit, main kit, and PL kit. I then completed the layout using some Shimmerz product from the Color Kit, called No Yolking.

I had so much fun creating this layout and I hope all Mothers have a wonderful Mothers’ Day!

Hip Kit Club week 4 1

I am sharing another layout created with the Hip Kit Club April2016 kits! For this one, I decided to use the negative of the HKC Exclusive Cut File that Kim Watson designed.

I knew that I wanted to use up the majority of the Shimelle Laine ephemera pieces as I wanted to create a vertical element with some stitching. I just love big ephemera packs! I layered up my photo, embellished using lots of pieces from the embellishment kit, paper kit, main kit, and PL kit. I then completed the layout using some india ink.

I had a lot of fun creating this one!
