Create your own Traveler’s Notebook!

Hey y’all! I’m back, with a different kind of project for you all!

I decided to create a memories book with extra photos that I had lying around of my daughter when she was an itty bitty baby. She’ll be TWO next week and I’m struggling a little, seeing her go to school for the first time, and also just seeing her grow up in general. I know, she’s not even a teenager yet. Just wait for that…

Anyway, I created my own Traveler’s Notebook out of the beautiful Pinkfresh Studio paper that came in our May 2017 Kits. I simply cut-to-size, scored it and folded it in half. Then, I added printer paper on the inside and sewed it right up. and TA-DA, I had a Traveler’s Notebook that may actually “travel” with me around town so that I can look at her as a baby, whenever I want. 😉

So I used a few elements from the (American Crafts) Shimelle “Little by Little” collection, along with a few of the HKC exclusive alphas and puffy stickers.

This was a super simple and quick process but I love the outcome!

Go Graphic & Mixed Media!

Happy Saturday everyone!

I hope you’re all doing well this weekend! I’m so happy to be bringing you 2 projects, using the Prima Watercolors, along with other elements from the May 2017 Hip Kits!

I started with a Project Life spread. This week, we’re focusing on mixed media, and today in particular, I am focusing on the graphic look. when I think of “graphics,” I think of design and the abstract look.

I started with a few cut-to-size pieces of watercolor paper. I used my Prima Confection Watercolors to create a super fun and simple look.

I used the Crate Paper “Oasis” alpha stamp to create both a title card and a DIY project life card. Make sure to use a waterproof ink when you’re stamping on top of any project containing water-based supplies.

I used tons of the Shimelle “Little by Little” stickers and ephemera pieces around the spread.

Lastly, I added some of the HKC Exclusive wood veneer words, along with some enamel dots.

I hope y’all love the outcome!

For my scrapbook layout, I wanted to use as much of the HKC Exclusive ephemera as possible. I started with a lined background (to play on the “graphic” side) and a photo of my daughter. I started adding ephemera around the photo, and realized that I wanted to layer the pieces right on top of one another.

I had the idea to use the locks and keys on a string and simply stapled it on to the page. I love this look and rarely use string, so this was a fun addition!

For the mixed media portion, I added some of the watercolors as sprinkles. I’m not a huge mixed media person, but I think added some simple sprinkles can complete a page. Plus, you don’t have to use watercolors as they’re intended; you can totally use them any way you want on a page.

Lastly, I used some of the HKC Exclusive alphas for the title, and added the last portion of the title using the stamp set.

This is one of my favorite layouts with the May kits!!

Thursday Inspiration-Main Kit

I just love challenging myself to stay within a certain range of products. The funny thing is, my Little by Little ephemera got mixed up with the HKC Exclusive ephemera and I couldn’t tell them apart. That’s how great the products go together! I love it.

For my project, I focused on PL 2017. I am using the 12×12 system and I love it so much more than the 9×12 system I was using before.

I started by cutting some of the main kit papers down to the 3×4 and 4×6 sizes. I added photos into the gaps and on top of the cards, and then simply started embellishing. For my title card, I used the HKC Exclusive alphas that came in our Main Kit. In addition, I used some of the exclusive ephemera to add a little somethin’ extra.

I used some of the wood veneer that came in our Embellishment Kit, along with the puffy stickers by Dear Lizzy (Main Kit also). Lastly, I added some foam Thickers by Shimelle Lain “Little by Little.

Week 5 (cont.)

Hey everyone! AND happy Scrappy Saturday!

I hope your weekend is going well! I have a fun spread to share with you all, using the May 2017 Hip Kits.

I started by placing my photos and cards down on my work space. This week I had tons of photos, which often leaves little room for all of the fun goodies in the kits! However, I managed to use lots of stuff but also kept is quite simple.

I knew that I wanted to use the fun stamp set from our Project Life kit, so simply grabbed some black ink and stamped “Shoe Girl,” to note how much my daughter loves to try on shoes.

I used a few of the exclusive puffy stickers (from the embellishment kit), along with some of the “Little by Little” stickers and ephemera pieces from our Project Life Kit. I also added some of the Crate Paper “charming” chipboard stickers.

I cut a piece of patterned paper to 3×4 to make a journaling card and called the layout complete!

I hope y’all gained some inspiration from this spread!

Mood Board Inspi!

Hey y’all! Ashley here, back with a fun PL spread and LO focusing on the mood board using the May 2017 Hip Kit Club kits!

Here is the mood board for this month!

I just love all of those beauitful colors in the mood board. I really wanted my PL spread AND my LO to be representative of different aspects of the mood board.

For my PL Spread, I started with some of the HKC Exclusive cards from the Project Life Kit. I laid out my pictures, along with my PL cards and then began the embellishing.

From the mood board, I primarily focused on the colors, the feathers, and the clouds. I even attempted to copy the paint colors with the enamel dots.

I embellished using some of the HKC Exclusive wood veneer and ephemera, along with a few of the “Little by Little” stickers.

I love the way this spread turned out!

For my LO, I decided to play off of the door with a diagonal paint line from the mood board. Sometimes just adding a triangular look to the layout creates such a fun design!

I used a white background from our Card stock Kit along with one of the “Little by Little” papers.

I layered behind my photo and then began adding lots of embellishments along the diagonal line. I used elements from the “Little by Little” collection, along with some of the HKC Exclusive ephemera and Crate Paper chipboard stickers.

I added some of the Prima Watercolors for splatters around the design (these came in our color kit for this month)!

I hope you all love this one too!!

No Flowers Challenge

Hey everyone! Happy Scrapurday!
I have a fun project for you all with the challenge of NO FLOWERS, using the Hip Kit Club April 2017 kits. Y’all. This was hard for me. I love using anything floral on my spreads and layouts, and this by far was one of the most challenging (yet fun) spreads I’ve done!
I started with a 12×12 Project Life spread. I used a few of the pattern papers, cut-to-size, from the Paper Kit. For my title card, I decided to use those beautiful HKC Exclusive alphas from our Main Kit. Also, I’ve been loving to use those little label stickers from the Palm Beach collection by My Mind’s Eye.
I added a few of the leatherette stickers by Pinkfresh Studio along with lots of chipboard from the Pink Paislee Paige Taylor Evans Oh My Heart collection.
Lastly, I used the Vicky Boutin stickers as is (black and white) without altering them! I love the way this turned out as well!

I hope you gained some inspiration. And guess what? No flowers. Ok, fine. There may or may not be one little floral accent on the chipboard watch. (teehee).

Pinkfresh Acetate Focus!

Hey y’all! This week me and 2 other girls focused on one of our favorite products from the April 2017 Kits!

For my project, I’ve created a Project Life spread for you all with a focus on one of my favorite products from the kit (the Pinkfresh Acetate).

I started by cutting some of the patterned papers down to size to fit in my pockets. I also used one of the HKC Exclusive PL cards from our Project Life Kit.

I used some of the alphas from Pinkfresh Studio (Embellishment Kit) and the My Mind’s Eye “Palm Beach” Collection (PL kit).

I lightly embellished with pieces from the “Live More” collection, but also from the “Oh My Heart” collection.

One of my favorite things in this kit is the acetate pieces! I love the colors and the designs. I wanted to keep things simple, therefore, I chose approximately one piece per card, although there are photos without them (they just wouldn’t have shown up great on those particular photos).

On the title card, I sewed the acetate piece for more texture but I also love how subtle this yellow and pink tag is on the bright pink card.

I hope y’all enjoyed this process and gained some inspiration!! 🙂

Cut-File Focus! + Week One!

Hey y’all!

Ashley here, bringing you two super fun projects using the April 2017 Kits!

I am happy to say that I have now started my 2017 Project Life! Yay! So, with that being said, I am using the 12×12 system and I. Love. It!

I started with some of the cards from the project life kit and placed them where I thought they looked best. I used white card stock for some of the cards so that all of the color would be balanced!

For my title card, I used the super pretty Pinkfresh Studio alphas, along with a label sticker from our PL Kit (My Mind’s Eye- Palm Beach) and some of the black and white washi from our Embellishment Kit. I also cut apart lots of the phrases from the HKC Exclusive word/phrase sheet that came in our PL Kit.

I added some chipboard from the Pink Paislee (Paige Evans) “Oh My Heart” collection, along with some of the black and white stickers from our Color Kit.

I LOVE this spread so much and I hope you do too!

I used lots of ephemera from the “Oasis” collection, along with a few stickers from the My Mind’s Eye “Palm Beach” collection.

Lastly, I added shimmerz mist from an previous Color Kit in the color “Oh Say can you Sea.”

I hope y’all love this one too!! 🙂

The scrapbook struggle

Hey everyone!

I’m back with a page, that was not-so-simple to put together, created with the Hip Kit Club (March 2017) Kits! I have to admit, this one was a major struggle for me. It took me about 3 times to get it “right,” and I still don’t super love it.

I started with the beautiful black and white text paper as my background. I started layering behind my photo and at this point, I didn’t love the look of everything, but decided to keep going any way. I then realized after adding lots of embellishments (Oh my Heart, Little by Little, and Lovely Day), that I should mute the background. I grabbed some of the white Shimmerz Paints that came in a past color kit, and adding some of the pink Pasteez (Shimmerz Paints) from March’s Color Kit. I felt that this looked a lot better!

I decided to cut out the black and white paper, and sew it on to the a purple background from our Cardstock Kit. I liked this a lot! I then started adding my layers and something still didn’t look right!

In the end, I decided to take away the feather next to the photo, and add a couple of circular elements, along with words from the “Little by Little” patterned paper that came in our Paper Kit!

I sort of love the end result. Sometimes this happens, and it’s ok! Not all of my layouts come together quickly or simply.

Create with a “punch” of color!

Hey everyone!

It’s Ashley, and I’m back with another scrapbooking layout, along with a Project Life spread. This week was all about using your punches.

Let’s start with the layout. I began with a ledger background (paper from Crate Paper Chasing Dreams) and simply began to layer papers around my photo. I knew immediately what I wanted to do with the punches, so I grabbed my star punch, flower punch, butterfly and heart punch. I simply punched several shapes and then laid some of them directly on top of each other (about 3 or 4 at a time), and sewed the middle; this created a dimensional embellishment with the butterflies and hearts. With the stars, I plainly adhered them to the page as I didn’t want too too much dimension all over the place. The flower shapes were off-set so that the petals could be staggered, also making for a cute dimensional embellishment (with an exclusive enamel dot inside).

HKC April 1 LOIMG_8563IMG_8564

I used papers from our Paper Kit, Oh My Heart, Lovely Day and Chasing Dreams. I just LOVE LOVE the way this layout came out. Super simple to create!

For my Project Life spread, I used some of the same punched shapes to add some interest to some of the cards. I started by layout out my photos and cards, and then began adhering the photos and adding embellishments. I used the Crate Paper (Charming) Thickers for the title card (Main Kit), and lots of ephemera from both the Dear Lizzy “Lovely Day” and Paige Evans “Oh My Heart” collections. In addition, I added some stickers from the Pinkfresh Studio “Live More” collection.

I hope y’all love this one too!
